HOBO DATA LOGGERS – for Advanced Microclimate Monitoring
High-precision, 12-bit data loggers with high memory capacity (HOBO UX100, MX, U12 and H8 series), designed for scientific monitoring of temperature, relative humidity, illuminance and external channels in museums, art transport and sealed display cases.
The HOBO data logger range (manufactured by Onset and distributed by C.T.S.) represents the global benchmark for highly accurate microclimate monitoring in restoration and museum conservation. Available with USB cable data download, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connectivity or repositionable external probes, HOBO devices offer sampling intervals as short as 1 second and fine measurement resolution (up to 12-bit).
Thanks to the integrity of data stored in non-volatile Flash/EEPROM memory and support for the professional HOBOware Pro software, the HOBO range ensures full traceability of temperature and relative humidity parameters during exhibitions, international loans and thermal studies in historic buildings and churches.
TECHNICAL AND FUNCTIONAL FEATURES
- Interface and Connectivity: Connection via Micro-USB cable (UX100 / U12 series), Bluetooth BLE wireless transmission over distances of up to approximately 30 metres (MX1101 series), or fast on-site data transfer via the HOBO U-Shuttle.
- Accuracy and Resolution: Temperature accuracy of up to ±0.21°C (over the 0–50°C range) and 12-bit resolution (0.02°C / 0.05% RH).
- Memory and Data Management: Non-volatile Flash/EEPROM memory with capacity for up to 84,650 readings (UX100 series) or 64K (43,000 readings for U12). Programmable sampling intervals from 1 second to 18 hours.
- Power Supply and Battery Life: Replaceable CR2032 (3 V) lithium battery or AA alkaline batteries, with a typical battery life of approximately 1 year.
- Operating Conditions: Indoor operating range from −20°C to +70°C; humidity from 5% to 95% RH (non-condensing and mist-free).
APPLICATIONS / USE ON SITE AND IN MUSEUMS
HOBO data loggers are particularly suitable for monitoring artworks during transport and temporary exhibitions, conducting detailed studies of complex microclimates (near LED/UV lighting fixtures or glazing), and monitoring sealed display cases.
With Bluetooth models (HOBO MX1101), operators can download data and check alarm thresholds using the free HOBOmobile app from a distance of up to 30 m, without opening display cases or disturbing the enclosed environment. For fixed installations, on-site data transfer is carried out quickly using the HOBO U-Shuttle, which restarts the loggers and synchronises their clocks before the final transfer to a PC/Mac via HOBOware Pro software.
NOTES AND PRECAUTIONS
- Sensitivity and Environment: Devices designed for indoor use (IP50 protection rating / indoor use). Protect against direct contact with water, rain and condensation mist.
- Software and Accessories: Advanced data analysis, comparative plotting and export to spreadsheets require HOBOware / HOBOware Pro software.
- Package Contents / Supplied Equipment: Supplied with a battery, mounting kit (double-sided tape, hook and magnet) and manufacturer's warranty.
