ART LUX 50LW NEW: the restyling of the only lamp born for restoration

Some tools become so much a part of the laboratory routine that they turn invisible. The lamp is one of them: it's always there, always working — and precisely for that reason, every one of its flaws (an arm that sags, a wire that gets in the way, a screen that clouds over) is paid for every single day. That is where we started from in restyling the ART LUX 50LW.

Born for restoration, not adapted to it

The ART LUX has always been a special case in the world of technical lighting: not an industrial or medical lamp "lent" to restoration, but a project conceived from the outset for those who work on works of art. The new 50LW keeps this identity and its 3-in-1 formula: high-quality white LED light for working and retouching, UV light at 365 nm for examining surfaces, and an optional magnifying lens. Three tools in a single body, with a dedicated three-switch control panel to move from one mode to another. The LEDs are the same ones that made the previous series so appreciated: on light quality there is no going back, and there was no reason to change it. As with all CTS ART LUX lamps, the key parameter is the CRI (Color Rendering Index), which indicates how faithful the colours observed under artificial light are to the real ones. A low CRI distorts colour perception (duller reds, dirty or yellowish whites), while a high CRI ensures natural, precise and reliable colours — essential in retouching and chromatic analysis.

The new pantograph arm

The most visible change is the arm: completely redesigned, more modern in its lines and more robust in its mechanics. The electrical wiring now runs entirely inside the arm: no external wires, no obstructions, a distinctly cleaner and more professional look. Together with the arm, the joint between pantograph and lamp head has been redesigned — a point that could cause issues in the previous series: the new joint allows any rotation, holds its position in every setting, and minimises the risk of breakage.

More compact, more refined, more durable

The lamp head has been reduced further: the 50LW NEW is an extremely compact lamp that takes up the bare minimum above the work surface [dimensions: —]. The protective screen for the UV LEDs now receives a specific treatment that prevents it from oxidising over time: an aesthetic detail, but also a matter of durability, because the screen stays transparent and uniform year after year. Those who already own lamps from the ART LUX line will also find the mount unchanged from previous models (such as the ART LUX 200): compatibility with existing installations is guaranteed.
