Professional Plug-and-Play solutions (EL-USB and EL-WiFi series) for the continuous recording of microclimatic parameters inside display cases, showcases, archives and museum storage areas. They offer long battery life, automatic dew point calculation, free EasyLog management software and alarm management for the preventive conservation of artworks.

Temperature and relative humidity data loggers are essential tools for microclimate monitoring and the preventive conservation of cultural heritage, protecting textiles, paintings, wooden objects and documents against sudden fluctuations in humidity. The range offered by C.T.S. includes compact standalone and wireless two-channel devices (temperature and relative humidity) capable of automatically calculating the dew point and triggering visual alarm indicators or real-time cloud notifications.

Thanks to the convenience of a direct USB connection (EL-USB range) or continuous WiFi transmission (EL-WiFi range), these instruments allow users to track climatic conditions without interfering with exhibitions or on-site activities. On-site monitoring can also be carried out without a computer using the EL-DataPad handheld touchscreen unit, which can collect and display data from over 500 loggers.

TECHNICAL AND FUNCTIONAL FEATURES

  • Interface / Connectivity: Direct USB Type-A connection to a PC (EL-USB range), or an integrated WiFi 802.11b/g/n module for automatic cloud uploads (EL-WiFi range).
  • Measurement Range and Accuracy: Temperature from −35°C to +80°C (EL-USB) and from −20°C to +60°C (EL-WiFi); relative humidity from 0% to 100% RH. Typical accuracy of ±0.3°C / ±0.5°C for temperature and ±2% / ±3% for RH.
  • Memory and Logging Interval: Over 16,000 readings per channel in USB models; unlimited cloud storage with an internal backup buffer of up to 60 days for the WiFi range. Configurable logging intervals from 10 seconds to 12 hours.
  • Power Supply and Battery Life: Replaceable 3.6 V ½ AA lithium battery with a typical life of 1–2 years (EL-USB); lithium battery rechargeable via micro-USB, with a life of up to approximately 6 months (EL-WiFi).
  • Ingress Protection Rating: From IP55 (EL-WiFi) to IP67 (EL-USB with the protective cap and seal fitted).

APPLICATION / USE ON SITE AND IN MUSEUMS

EL-USB and EL-WiFi series devices are placed directly inside display cabinets, exhibition cases, archive cabinets or exhibition rooms. For USB models, the device is periodically removed from its location and inserted into the computer’s USB port for immediate data download using the free EasyLog software (EL-WIN-USB). Alternatively, data can be downloaded on site without relocating the logger using the EL-DataPad handheld touchscreen unit.

For WiFi models, data is automatically transmitted to the EasyLog Cloud account, allowing centralised remote monitoring from a PC or smartphone, with immediate email notifications when safe climatic thresholds are exceeded.

NOTES AND WARNINGS

  • Chemical Sensitivity and Water Resistance: The instruments are not submersible and must be protected against liquid water and condensation. Exposure of the internal sensor to aggressive chemical vapours released by new plastics or foam materials may cause measurement drift. In such cases, thermal regeneration is required (baking at 80°C and RH <5% for 36 hours, followed by rehydration at 20–30°C and RH >74% for 48 hours).
  • Toxicity / Safety: Low-voltage electronic measuring devices presenting no chemical hazards to the operator.
  • Packaging / Included Accessories: Supplied ready to use, complete with a lithium battery, wall mount and Windows management software.
