R&C Art S.r.l. is a research, diagnostic, analysis, and consultancy laboratory for Cultural Heritage, which for over 35 years has been providing analytical support and consultancy to professionals working in the field of Cultural Heritage and preparing to carry out restoration interventions. Their clients include public institutions (Superintendencies, National Museums, and Public Administrations) as well as private companies (design studios, restorers, construction firms) in Italy and for international projects.

R&C art's professionals are always available to discuss and define the most suitable investigation plan aimed at characterizing the materials used to create the artwork undergoing restoration and at assessing its conservation state. For this purpose, they can offer an initial approach using non-invasive techniques, employing portable instruments for on-site detection, followed by invasive methods involving micro-sampling for laboratory analysis.

The materials on which they can provide a consultancy include those commonly used in historical and monumental buildings — such as plasters, stone materials, and wall paintings — as well as movable artefacts such as paintings on canvas and panel, paper-based works, wooden artefacts, textile fibres, ceramic materials, and metals.

The laboratory also offers consultancy services for the design of microclimatic monitoring systems within enclosed environments such as museums and archives, including the supply of suitable detection systems tailored to various needs (temperature, relative humidity, dew point, determination of CO₂, SOₓ, and NOₓ levels).

They are equipped with state-of-the-art scientific instrumentation, and their strength lies in the interdisciplinary collaboration of qualified professionals — chemists, geologists, and biologists — capable of leading diagnostic projects aimed at clarifying the nature of materials, the presence of any valuable finishes, and the state of conservation.

The intrinsic issues of each project are carefully examined and addressed through targeted analysis plans designed to provide the restorer with a comprehensive overview of the identified problems, as well as operational and technical advice for intervention, coordinated by the Technical Director, Dr. Mirella Baldan.
